Many designs are better suited for chemical etching as opposed to abrasive blasting. Sometimes referred to as pickling, this is an important process step for creating microscopically smooth, highly reflective surface conditions for post-processing in many medical device applications. Similar to abrasive blasting, chemical etching can attack surface impurities, slag, oxide, and dross, as well as eliminate stains and rust from previous operations.
